Condensate drain line repair cost

Extending, clearing and fixing the small pipe that carries water away from the AC or furnace.

Air conditioners, heat pumps and high-efficiency furnaces make water as they run. A small pipe called the condensate line carries that water outside or to a drain.

A line that ends right next to the house is the single most common HVAC finding in recent HomeCloud evaluations. It's one of the least expensive fixes in the system.

What HomeCloud reports priced this fix at in homes we evaluated Sep 2025 to Oct 2026. The range is the middle half of homes; the middle price is the median. Your price comes from a written estimate for your home. Clearing a clogged line and other condensate repairs were too rare in the sample to show a range.

What affects the price

How far it has to go
A longer extension, or one that has to run around a deck or walkway, takes more pipe and time.
Clogs
A clogged line is cleared before anything else. Algae and sludge can build up in the line over time.
Pumps
Equipment in a basement or other low spot may need a small pump to push water out. Replacing a failed pump costs more than a simple line repair.

Common questions

Where should the condensate line drain?

Away from the foundation, where the water can soak in or run off without pooling against the house.

What happens if the line clogs?

Water backs up into the drain pan and can overflow into the ceiling, floor or crawl space. Some systems have a float switch that shuts the AC off when the pan fills.
