Cabinet, vanity and countertop repair cost
Fixing cabinet damage, doors, hinges and bases, loose vanities, chipped countertops and mirrors.
Most cabinet findings are cosmetic or small: chips and scratches, doors that won't stay closed, missing handles. The cabinet floor under a sink is the spot most often damaged by water.
If you want to change the look of your cabinets, painting them is often an option. See interior painting for what cabinet painting costs.

What affects the price
- Matching the finish
- Stained wood is harder to touch up invisibly than painted cabinets.
- Cabinet material
- Particleboard swells and crumbles when it gets wet, so water-damaged panels are usually replaced, not repaired.
- Countertop material
- Laminate, stone and solid surface tops are repaired differently. A badly cracked stone top may need a new piece.
- The cause of water damage
- Stains and swelling under a sink often come from a leak, which is fixed first. See plumbing.
Common questions
Should I paint my cabinets or replace them?
If the cabinet boxes are solid and the layout works, painting changes the look for much less than new cabinets. Water-damaged or broken boxes are worth repairing or replacing first.
