Frameless glass panel added to an open shower

HomeCloud installed a frameless glass panel on the open primary shower.

Worn caulk and grout are the most common plumbing findings in HomeCloud evaluations. A gap between the toilet and the floor came up in 64% of the homes, and worn caulk or grout around a tub in 52%. Fresh caulk keeps water out of the floor and walls, and it's one of the least expensive fixes on a report.

Other common bathroom fixes are a tub spout that drips while the shower runs (a worn diverter valve), missing tub stoppers, slow drains, and toilets that are loose or rock.

What affects the price

How much caulk or grout
Recaulking a tub or a toilet base is quick. Regrouting a whole shower, or fixing tile that has come loose, takes longer.
Water behind the surface
If water has gotten behind the tile or under the floor, the damaged material has to be repaired before anything is resealed.
Getting to the valve
Diverter and shower valve repairs go faster when there's an access panel behind the shower. Without one, the plumber works through the trim or the wall.
Older fixtures
Matching trim, handles and stoppers for an older or uncommon fixture can take longer to find.

Common questions

Is a gap at the base of the toilet a problem?

A gap between the toilet and the floor lets moisture and dirt collect underneath, and the toilet can start to wobble. Caulking the base seals it.

What is a shower diverter?

The valve that sends water up to the shower head instead of out of the tub spout. When it wears out, water keeps running out of the spout while the shower is on.
